Keeping it in the Family

in Fashion, My Journal

My Abuela always had exquisite taste. She very rarely purchased beauty or fashion items but whenever she did it would be something high quality. When she passed in 2008, I inherited a few of her belongings and after some cleaning recently my Mom passed on a few more things of Abuela’s to me.

Above is a perfume bottle necklace. Great idea right? Last year I bought a perfume necklace from JewelMint  where you could store a cotton ball soaked in perfume (so it would waft out throughout the day) but this takes the idea to a whole new level.

I wish I knew where she got most of her jewelry, they all have had very similar styles so she seemed to be loyal to a certain store. If you have any ideas, let me know!

Update: It’s a 1977 Givenchy necklace!

The idea behing passing on heirlooms is really special to me. My engagement ring is my Mother’s and my wedding ring will be my Abuela’s (I’ll have a post on that soon). I hope I have something special to give my children that they can cherish as much as I cherish this. I imagine each item absorbing the love around it and keeping it safe for the next generation. I wish my Abuela could know how happy and loved I feel now.

Do you plan on passing anything down? Do you have anything from a relative?
