Friends with Benefits: May “Makeup” Routine

May 1, 2012

in Beauty, Videos

This month I’m taking my beauty routine a step further…. or I guess a step back. Depends on how you look at it.

I’ve been thinking about doing this for awhile and after recent events, decided to do it for the month of May.

To explain it in a little more detail, I want to make my skin and lashes the best it can be. I think taking a break from makeup may help. I’ll be able to focus on my skincare, let my skin breath, improve my confidence, and help my eyelashes grow back stronger.

I decided to call it my “Friends with Benefits” routine because the only “makeup” I’ll be using is the bareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment (review), Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom, and Aloe Vera Juice (at local drugstores, you can also use it as an astringent). They all work to help me while I wear them. Products with benefits!

Just in case you were wondering, my gorgeous wish bone earrings are from mark. and on my nails I’m wearing Milani’s Feisty Flames and Kiss Nail Dress in Sexy (c/o, review)

What do you think of this challenge? I’m sure there will be some days where I really want to wear makeup but I feel confident that I can do this.

Kindness is the best accessory,

Hi there! I found this post through the favorite post of the month link-up on the Mrs. Robinson blog. How did the challenge work out for you? I actually never started wearing make-up regularly, so even now at 22 I don’t wear it except for formal events. But from what I’ve heard from my friends who do wear make-up every day, it’s hard to go without!

Thank you Megan! It has been really difficult for me. Last week I started allowing myself to fill in my brows because I felt like quitting. It has been pretty tough because I genuinely enjoy makeup and think of it as a form of expression. I can’t wait till it’s Friday and I can wear makeup again!
