This Friday I slightly altered my May No-Makeup Challenge.
To sum up my previous post, I decided to stop wearing makeup for the month of May. My main goal was to give my skin and eyelashes a “break” so I could see if my skin would look better and to help my eyelashes recover from over mascara use. My eyelashes used to be very thick but have lately become thin and sparse. A secondary wish was to feel more comfortable leaving the house without my makeup on.
I allowed myself to still wear lip products during this challenge because I have a boat-load of lip products and I wanted to keep working on using them up before they expire for my Learning to Live Minimally Resolution.
Well, I altered my agreement on Friday, May 18, to allow myself to also fill in my eyebrows. I’ve been having a hard time staying true to this challenge, to be completely honest. I have no problem leaving the house without makeup now but something I constantly struggle with is comparing myself to others (I talk about this in detail in my journaling course) so after I’m out in public I feel plain and not like myself. So, to help me feel a little more defined without breaking the challenge completely I’ve decided to let myself fill in my brows for the rest of the month.
I actually haven’t plucked my eyebrows since this challenge started (except for a few stray hairs that aren’t even close to my brow shape) so that I can see how big they can conceivably grow without making me look like a cave man. I really love big brows and I love not having to worry about plucking all the time. The above picture shows how big my brows have gotten so far.
I’ve been filling them in with the Tarte Arch Angel. I purchased it a long time ago on Hautelook. I don’t love the brow pencil, honestly it is really hard to use because you have to use such a light hand to make it look right, but I want to use it up since it has just been sitting in my collection. They don’t make this eyebrow pencil anymore, Tarte has replaced it with the Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay waterproof eye pencil that I desperately want to try. Did you know that Tarte is a cruelty-free brand? That’s wonderful!
Have any of you done a no-makeup or minimal-makeup challenge?

You are still beautiful without putting any make up. Me, I usually put make up going to the office but during weekends and just inside the house I don’t use make up.

That’s great, good for you. Yes I have noticed a difference! I think I have more and longer lashes now. Can’t wait to wear mascara again to see the full effect.
Make ups can really transform the faces of women into a lovely one even though your face is not that soft and smooth.

For sure.
You look much younger without make-up Rebecca! If I were you, just put some light make-ups whenever you feel like having it. You’re pretty anyway!

Thank you Hedidi! I just really enjoy it as a form of self expression. I think it’s fun to put on makeup!
