May 2012

No makeup favorites this month, as I’m makeup free for the month of May, though I do have some skincare and fashion items.

First is a purse I bought from Little Black Bag. As you know, I’m obsessed with monthly subscription services…. well, I joined another! I don’t plan on purchasing every month, since this service is very pricey. Little Black Bag is a purse and lifestyle service where you pick one item you love the most from a list of products (generally a purse) and then you get two-three other mystery items added to your bag based on availability and your style quiz. Then once you purchase you can trade your items with other members. It’s hard to explain, you’ll just have to experience it yourself because the trading aspect is so much fun! You get over $100 of designer items for only $49.95 (just make sure to “skip this month” if you don’t want to purchase that month).

The above bag was from my first purchase. I’ve been using it like crazy! It fits all of my essentials. This was the Nila Anthony Round Stripe Crossbody. I can’t find it online but you can get other Nila Anthony bags at Karmaloop. I purchased another Little Black Bag as a celebration for my upcoming graduation. I’ll film it for a video next week.

Next, I have my Willa Fresh Foaming Face Wash. I got this sample in a Birchbox and it has lasted me over a month! I love how it makes me feel clean but not striped of moisture. You can see more about this cleanser in my skincare routine.

Then I have my Crystal Essence natural deodarant. I was surprised that this was a favorite. When I first got this in my Shecky’s GNO bag, I hated it. I felt like I was really stinky, to be completely honest. But after a few weeks my body adjusted to it and I’m happy to report I no longer smell! I’ve been curious about natural deodorants since I’ve heard so many horrible things about the chemicals found in more mainstream brands.

Last is my new glasses. I purchased these from Warby Parker. They have an amazing try on service! I would definitely recommend them.

DIY: Glitter Keys

May 28, 2012

in DIY

I was bored and saw this tutorial about a glitter key and decided to make one for myself! It’s a really simple and fun project that takes very little time.

Supplies:

1. A key!
2. Tape
3. Paint or clear drying glue
4. Glitter
5. Hairspray or nail top coat
6. Work area

Instructions:

1. Tape off the area on the key you do not want to have glitter all over.
2. Cover the area that you do want with glitter with either a pretty paint (like a base coat) or glue that dries clear. I used a shiny pink paint that I got from Michaels Arts & Craft stores a few years ago.
3. Over your work area, sprinkle on your glitter of choice over the key. Put on a lot more then you think you will need because some will fall off when you seal it.
4. Prop up the key to dry or hold it until it dries. It should only take a few minutes.
5. Cover the glitter area with either a nail polish top coat or a really sticky hairspray. This will keep the glitter from getting all over your purse and car as some of it will shed off.
6. Take off the tape!

It only took me about 10 minutes to do!

  • The above video is by the writer/director Kevin Smith. Chris and I think he is incredibly funny. In one of his  Q  & A sessions he spoke about the death of his father and how it effected him. We found it to be really moving and I wanted to share.

Did anything move you this week?
