Send Something Beautiful

April 30, 2012

in My Journal

Over the weekend, our family lost our Abuelito. I’ve only known him for seven years (technically he was Chris’ Grandfather) but he really penetrated my heart. Abuelito was my Abuelito, blood or not. We kept it to ourselves for a few days, so that we could process our loss in private. I don’t want to go into a huge post about my feelings of loss but rather share something that makes me happier in a time of grief, in hopes that you can make someone in the same situation happier as well.

The flowers shown above were a gift from my best friend, Marie. These aren’t your typical funeral flowers, rather really stunning happy bright flowers. Looking at them makes me smile. For a few minutes, we could forget our sadness and instead celebrate life. I’d recommend something happy like this rather then those creepily large circular flower arrangements or large crosses made of roses. Of course this is my personal opinion but I’ve never seen anyone really happy to take home those big rose arrangements from the funeral home.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Give someone a hug? Sounds like a weird request but you know…  I’m sure there is someone (maybe you?) that needs one right now.

Kindness is the best accessory,
