FAQ: How Old Are You? Your Fiance? Money? + More

Q: How old are you?
A: I am 23 years old. My Birthday was August 25, 1989.

Q: How long have been with your fiance?
A:  7 years! We started dating February 19th 2005. We became engaged in November of 2010. 

Q: When are you getting married?
A: Not for a few years. We want to have our own place first. You can see an update on our wedding planning here. 

Q: What do you do professionally?
A: I maintain my YouTube channel, vlog, sponsorships on this blog (I recently changed my sponsorship program, check here to learn more!), through ambassador programs like the one I am in now with pv.body/ellie, and I just started working as the social media manager for girl-karma.com.

Q: How did you create your blog?
A: I was originally using Blogger but now I am on WordPress (and love it!). I switched from Blogger to WordPress by myself (saving me a lot of money!) by buying and following this amazing book. WordPress does often have to do with codes, plugins, and some other complicated things every now and again so I get the help of Krystyn from Krizzy Designs and Really, Are You Serious? to help me when I run into snags. I strongly recommend her!

Q: What do you think is better, WordPress of Blogger?
A: Blogger is a lot more user friendly but I personally think it is worth it to switch to WordPress. The features are amazing, it just takes a long time to get used to it. If you are on Blogger and want to switch to WordPress, it is really hard to do. You either have to hire someone to do it for you (which costs up to a few hundred dollars) or you can do it yourself (set aside a week or long weekend to work on just this task) by following the steps outlined in this book. I can’t recommend it enough! You save a lot of money and have more control, which I like.  

Q: Who designed your blog?
A: My blog is designed by KV Confessions for a very reasonable price. I was recommended to her by CJVZ Hearts You. I’m also using the Thesis theme by DIYThemes, which requires code adjustments from time to time so Krystyn from Really, Are You Serious? helps me (as mentioned in an earlier question). Occasionally I run into code errors and I am not to most skilled with the “behind-the-scenes” type issues. 

Q: Where do you host your blog on WordPress?
A:  I use DreamHost.

Q: What camera do you use to video blog?
A: For my beauty videos I use the Canon Vixia HF R100 and for video blogging on the go (like with The Rebecca and Chris Show) I use either my Cannon Powershot ELPH, Sony Bloggie, or my iPhone. 

Q: What do you edit your videos with?
A: I use Final Cut Express (Express is no longer available but Final Cut Pro is) to edit videos on my computer and I use the iMovie application when editing on my phone.  You can see a demo of how I film and edit my videos here.

Q: How often can I expect videos and blog posts?
A: I typically upload two-four videos a week and update here with five posts a week.

Q: What exactly is girl-karma? 
A: girl-karma is a website where girls and young woman can get personalized beauty and life advice tailored to their unique style and needs. It’s a fun place to be! 

Q: What do you do at girl-karma?
A: I manage their social media (like Twitter and Tumblr), write blog posts, and help find the videos that populate the site. It’s a dream job that I get to do from home!
